Leicester's waiting game
Gary Lineker is hoping to complete a package to save his former club
Lineker's consortium remains favourite
The administrators in charge of Leicester City's business affairs are no closer to making a decision over the club's new owners.

Administrator Nick Dargus, of Deloitte and Touche, is negotiating with a number of interested parties and spokeswoman Emma Thorogood told BBC Sport Online that several options remain live.

"Nick and his team are continuing to talk with parties who have been expressing an interest," Thorogood said.

It is effectively a case of sitting around the table and working out which proposal is best for the creditors

"Our job is to get the best deal we can for the creditors, but it's not possible to put a current timeframe on that.

"It would be nice to be able to say something will happen within a month but we are not in a position to do that yet."

Former England striker Gary Lineker's consortium is favourite to gain control of the club.

Lineker's group is within 1m of its 5m target to mount a takeover of the cash-strapped Foxes.

But Lineker's consortium faces competition from two other unnamed groups interested in gaining a controlling stake in the club.

Thorogood confirmed: "We are still sending out details of the business to parties who have expressed an interest and Nick's job is to evaluate how serious those bids are.

"Then it effectively becomes a case of sitting around the table and working out which proposal is best for the creditors."

Leicester have struck financial problems since their relegation at the end of last season.

The Foxes are currently in administration with debts of 30m.

Recently, the players agreed a wage deferment package to ease the club's plight.

The administrators also made 30 non-playing staff redundant, including chief executive Steve Kind and director of operations Charles Rayner.
