Leeds United manager Simon Grayson has signed a new three-year deal at the Championship club.

The 40-year-old had been linked with a move from Elland Road to former club Leicester City after Nigel Pearson left to join Hull City.

Grayson, who took over at Leeds in 2008, said: "I'm delighted the club have offered me a longer deal.

"After achieving promotion last season I hope we can fulfil everyone's dream of returning to the Premier League."

Grayson succeeded former boss Gary McAllister after he was dismissed in December 2008.

He became the ninth manager at Leeds in 10 years but last season succeeded in taking the West Yorkshire club back into the Championship for the first time since 2007.

Leeds chairman Ken Bates added: "We have every confidence in him.

"He has won two promotions in his career - one here and one at Blackpool - and we're hoping he can make that a hat-trick at the club where he first started out."
