Jason Crowe to battle for starting role at Leeds United

Jason Crowe says he will be ready to fight off rivals for the right-back slot at Leeds United when pre-season training begins in July.

The 31-year-old, who is battling back after ankle surgery, has one year remaining on his contract.

The former Northampton player told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "I'm chomping at the bit to get myself fit.

"The manager will be getting players in and if he brings someone in in my position, so be it."

Crowe started 16 League One matches in 2009/10, with his last appearance coming in the shock 2-1 home defeat to Walsall on 16 February.

He said: "I'll be raring to go come July. It's seven weeks since the operation and we went away to Dubai last week and that hampered things a little bit, although it was a great time away.

"But I've been with the physios ever since the season finished and came back to London the other day and have started running as well.

"It's moving in the right direction. It's still not quite right, but once I start moving it and running a lot more, the joints will free up."
