Grayson in need of a penalty king

Leeds United have only scored one penalty out of six under manager Simon Grayson, with the most recent failure coming at the weekend.

Robert Snodgrass missed against Stockport but did convert one at Leyton Orient last season.

Grayson admitted to BBC Radio Leeds that he refuses to watch spot-kicks and is in need of a regular taker.

"I never watch penalties but it is not a funny matter we need to start punishing team," he said.

The only man with a 100% record from 18-yards is Andy Robinson who scored two in two attempts under previous coach Gary McAllister.

However, Robinson's only appearances this season have come as a substitute and Leeds are still left with a hole where a reliable penalty scorer should be.

Failure from the spot in the Grayson era include striker Luciano Becchio missing twice, top scorer Jermaine Beckford's costly miss at home to Millwall in the playoff semi-final and former loanee Lee Trundle's miss at Hereford last season.

"We've got to find somebody who's going to be a regular penalty taker because we've had three or four now who have missed opportunities," he added.

"The quicker we find somebody who keeps hitting the target the better."

Leeds United Unplugged will be discussing "How Can You Miss A Penalty?" on BBC Radio Leeds this Thursday night between 1900 and 2200 BST on 92.4 FM, DAB and online at bbc.co.uk/leeds.
