Northern Ireland striker Warren Feeney is expected to complete a transfer from Cardiff City to Leeds United where he started his career as a trainee.

The 28-year-old from Belfast had been with Dundee United on loan last season.

Feeney is expected to travel to Leeds on Monday for talks with Elland Road boss Simon Grayson.

"Cardiff have given permission for another club to sign me. Leeds United are a massive club and I am excited," said Feeney.

The striker did not make a competitive first-team appearance in his first spell at Leeds before leaving in 2001, subsequently playing for Bournemouth, Stockport County and Luton Town before joining Cardiff in 2007.

However, he has only started five league games for the Bluebirds, spending time on loan at Swansea City and Dundee United.

Feeney has won 31 full international caps for Northern Ireland, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.

Leeds United's first-team coach Glynn Snodin is also assistant to Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington.
