Gow is a signing target of Killie's SPL rivals St Mirren
Kilmarnock manager Mixu Paatelainen believes his club does not have the finance to beat Scottish Premier League side St Mirren to Alan Gow's signature.
Buddies boss Danny Lennon said at the weekend he hoped to tie up the forward after his release by Plymouth Argyle.
Reports followed that rival clubs were now in the frame for the 27-year-old.
"I haven't mentioned him to anyone or spoken to the player - as far as I'm concerned, we can't afford money to bring him here," said Paatelainen.
Since the end of last season, the Rugby Park side's striking options have been limited by the loss of Kevin Kyle, Allan Russell, David Fernandez and loan player Chris Maguire.
"We will hopefully find the striker that will enhance us," added Paatelainen, following Sunday's 1-0 home defeat by Motherwell.
"It's not easy because of the constraints that we have, but hopefully one or two will materialise."
Meanwhile, the Finn thought the referee handled well an altercation at half-time that resulted in bookings for James Fowler and Motherwell goalkeeper Randolph.
"That's very unfortunate," said the Kilmarnock manager.
"I don't want any of our players to get involved in anything like that.
"When you walk in the tunnel, that's no place to show your aggression.
"The referee booked them both and quite rightly so."
