Allan Johnston has become influential for Kilmarnock |
Kilmarnock midfielder Allan Johnston has agreed a new two-year contract with the Scottish Premier League club. The 33-year-old former Scotland international is one of a number of Rugby Park players whose current deals expire in the summer.
Killie boss Jim Jefferies told the Daily Express: "His agent told us there had been interest from another couple of SPL clubs.
"So we are delighted to get him tied up. Allan has done really well for us."
Johnston signed for Kilmarnock after leaving Middlesbrough in 2004.
"He has been a big part of our success over the last couple of seasons and will continue to be a big player for us," said Jefferies.
"He looks after himself and has been great for Killie.

"He has had to play through the pain barried in the last few weeks, but he has had an operation and he will be fit for pre-season and ready for the next campaign.
"Before he came to us, he had been at a few places on loan and he had a foot injury which unfortunately deprived him of three years of pre-season.
"But Allan is now settled at Kilmarnock and has made a huge impact at the club because he is a huge player."
Goalkeeper Graeme Smith looks certain to leave Rugby Park in the summer after the 24-year-old understudy to Alan Combe rejected the offer of a new contract.
Killie have offered Chad Harpur a new one-year contract despite the 24-year-old South African not having broken into the first team since arriving last summer.
Meanwhile, forward Aime Koudou has been told to use the last four games of the season to win himself a new deal.
The 30-year-old from the Ivory Coast has made two substitute appearances since signing in February after leaving Airdrie United in February.
Eric Skora, who impressed during a loan spell with Killie from Preston in 2004, looks like being offered a contract until the end of the year.
The midfielder has not played this season because of a knee injury and will be given the start of next season to win himself a longer deal.
