Gary Whild relishes his new challenge at Kidderminster
Gary Whild was manager of Redditch for almost five years
New Kidderminster Harriers assistant manager Gary Whild is relishing the challenge of proving himself after stepping up a level at Aggborough.
Whild left Blue Square North neighbours Redditch to move across Worcestershire and become Steve Burr's number two.
"There are different expectations at a higher level," Whild told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"But that was what was attractive to me. It is nice to be challenged and I am looking forward to it."
Whild defied critics by keeping Redditch in Blue Square North during his four and a half years in charge but he feels the challenges at Kidderminster will be very different.
"I thoroughly enjoyed my time there although it was a massive challenge as you had your back to the wall for most of the time," he said.
"I took a lot of pride from the fact that we achieved against all the odds by staying in the division while to find some lads who have gone on to full-time football was great.
"But thanks to the people who were there it was a successful time."
Speaking about Burr, Whild added: "I have always had a good relationship with him.
"He was somebody who always took time to speak to me and compliment me on what I was doing at Redditch, so I wouldn't say so much that it was a surprise when he approached me.
"I am happy and it is a compliment to be asked to be involved with what is a good club."
