Finnigan takes over as Kidderminster temporary boss.

John Finnigan
Finnigan played league football for Forest, Lincoln and Cheltenham.

Kidderminster Harriers midfielder John Finnigan has taken temporary charge of team affairs at Aggborough.

Finnigan, 33, will be assisted by captain Chris McPhee following the departure of Mark Yates.

Chairman Barry Norgrove told the club's website: "We've made it clear we've had a bit of a disruption and we need to keep focused."

Physio Gavin Crowe will assist on the touchline and midfielder Dean Bennett will also help the management team.

Norgrove added: "Gavin Crowe is going to lend a hand as obviously if the boys are out on the pitch then you need someone on the line keeping things going."

We are still just outside those play-off places and it's important we keep things going

Kidderminster chairman Barry Norgrove

McPhee's agreement with the club is such that he does not train in Kidderminster each day of the week

"As Chris isn't here on a daily basis, Dean will also assist John on more of a day to day level," continued Norgrove.

"The four of them will work together and the whole dressing room is pulling together."

Finnigan joined the Harriers from Cheltenham Town in the summer of 2009 after playing over 200 league games for the Robins.

Meanwhile, Norgrove has re-iterated that Yates successor will not be chosen in a hurry.

"We aren't rock bottom and without a manager, we are still just outside those play-off places and it's important we keep things going," he said.

"We want our next appointment to be the best one for the club so for now we want everyone to get behind John, Chris and the boys."
