Referee display angers boss Yates

Kidderminster manager Mark Yates was angry at the performance of referee David Coote in Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Forest Green at The New Lawn.

Coote showed red cards to Harriers pair Justin Richards and Martin Riley and also ordered Yates from the touchline.

Yates told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "The sendings off changed the game. I don't want to talk about the referee.

"You can ask me tomorrow when I have calmed down a bit, but it's gone and we can't do anything about it."

Stefan Moore's 88th minute equaliser earned Harriers a vital point that keeps them in the hunt for promotion from the Blue Square Premier.

Martin Brittain had put Kidderminster in front after half an hour only for Conal Platt to equalise 10 minutes later.

Richards became the first Kidderminster player to see red on the night after an altercation with Forest Green's Lee Ayres just before half-time.

Andrew Mangan gave the home side the lead on 77 minutes, with Riley being dismissed for a second bookable offence before Moore's late leveller.

"I thought we played some good stuff in the first 30 minutes, we gave a stupid goal away, giving the ball away in the middle of the park," said Yates.

"We played well second half with 10 men, and then Martin Riley got sent off.

"He has not been booked all season and he gets sent off. I find it difficult to comprehend that one," he added.

I think it's a joke that I'm not allowed to stand there and watch the game

Yates himself missed the closing stages of the game after being ordered to the dressing room by referee Coote.

"I was asked to leave the technical area because I was shouting instructions to 10 men," said the Harriers boss.

"I think it's a joke that I'm not allowed to stand there and watch the game.

"Barts [Goalkeeper Adam Bartlett] made a good save at the end so I am told, but I had been sent to the dressing room and didn't see it."

And although Yates was disappointed with the performance of Coote, he admitted that a draw was a fair result.

"We did not deserve to lose in the circumstances, but maybe we didn't deserve to win.

"We will dust ourselves down and go to Ebbsfleet on Thursday night.

"We will be without Riley and Richards for the game as they will be suspended, but that's what we have a squad for."

The point at Forest Green leaves Kidderminster lying fifth in the Blue Square Premier, in the last of the play-off positions.
