Baker signs longer Harriers deal

Baker wants to repay the faith shown in him at Abbborough

Kidderminster Harriers have signed their on-loan full-back Lee Baker on a 18-month contract.

Harriers manager Mark Yates told BBC Hereford & Worcester the 19-year-old had impressed during his loan spell from West Bromwich Albion.

"He's come from a good club and he's recovered from a serious knee injury," Yates said.

"I think he's only going to get better as he's got a good left foot and he wants to keep learning."

Baker joined Harriers on loan from the Hawthorns at the start of the season and has been a consistent performer in the back four.

After consulting with senior figures at both clubs Baker is confident he has made the right decision

"My contract at West Brom didn't expire until the end of the season but I had a chat with a few people in football who gave me a bit of advice," he said.

"I had a chat with the manager at West Brom [Tony Mowbray] and I wasn't going to be in his plans at all.

"I've enjoyed myself here and the best thing all round was that I should come here and I am more than happy with that."

Yates added that Baker has fitted in well to the Aggborough dressing room and acknowledged he took a big risk with him after he missed the whole of last season due to his knee injury.

"He wants to repay the faith that we as a club have shown in him," said Yates.

"He wants to come here and achieve something by improving himself and the team."
