Kettering manager Mark Cooper praised his players after Tuesday's 4-0 win over Gateshead lifted the Poppies to second spot in Blue Square Premier.
Cooper's name has been linked this week with the managerial vacancy at League Two outfit Lincoln City.
But he has insisted all along that his main focus at present is achieving success with Kettering.
"The boys we have here are a spirited bunch and they're really together," he told BBC Radio Northampton.
"We're pleased to be up there but there's still a long way to go.
"We're probably ahead of target a little bit - and as long as we're around the top six or eight in the table then anything can happen.
"We get behind one another, win, lose or draw."
Kettering are unbeaten in their last six games - including four wins - and sit five points behind leaders Oxford United.
