Kettering Town beat Cooper's former side Hinckley United 1-0
Kettering Town manager Mark Cooper says that his side remain one player short in defence.
Centre-back and captain Guy Branston left the Poppies for Burton Albion on a free transfer this summer.
Cooper told BBC Radio Northampton: "John Dempster, Exodus Geohaghon and Greg Taylor are very capable defenders.
"But we have to be prudent and bring in another one. Whether he's a straight replacement for Guy Branston remains to be seen."
Kettering have a 100% winning record in pre-season, having beaten Desborough Town, Hinckley United, Kings Lynn and Championship sides Reading and Peterborough.
We've got an idea of one or two players who can take the role on and not let it interfere with their performances

"I would get beaten 10-0 in every pre-season game, if it meant we won against Forest Green [in the first game of the Blue Square Premier season]", said Cooper.
"But you're better off winning than losing, as it does become a habit. We're pretty pleased".
Cooper is still to pick his new captain for next season's campaign.
"We've got an idea of one or two players who can take the role on and not let it interfere with their performances," he added.
