Mark Kennedy played 36 league and cup games for Cardiff last season

Mark Kennedy has completed his move from Cardiff to Ipswich for a fee thought to be around £75,000.

The left-back has signed a two-year deal at Portman Road after passing a medical on Wednesday morning.

The former Liverpool man was a regular for the Welsh club last season, but boss Dave Jones was happy to cash in on the 34-year-old.

He is set to feature for Roy Keane's side in Wednesday night's friendly with Bury Town.

Keane played alongside the Dublin-born defender for the Republic of Ireland, with Kennedy picking up 34 international caps.

He told Wales Online: "I want to keep playing at the highest level possible for as long as I can.

"The Championship is a great league and this move will help me do that.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Cardiff. I would tell any player thinking about joining Cardiff to snap their hand off.

"It's a great club, with fantastic fans and an excellent manager."

Kennedy started his career at Millwall before Roy Evans brought him to Anfield in a £1.5m move in 1995.

He made just 16 league appearances for the Reds however and three years later joined Wimbledon, where he also struggled to get first-team games.

A switch to Manchester City a year later was more successful, but the full-back is more renowned for his five-year spell at Wolves where he played 187 games.
