Stern John aims to stay at Ipswich from Crystal Palace

On-loan Ipswich Town striker Stern John says he wants to remain at Portman Road and does not see a future for himself at parent club Crystal Palace.

The 33-year-old joined Ipswich on loan in November and extended his stay for a second month in early January.

The Trinidad & Tobago player told BBC Suffolk: "I would love to stay. I don't think I'm really part of the Crystal Palace manager's plans as they stand."

John scored his first Ipswich in their 3-2 win over Coventry on Saturday.

The veteran still believes Ipswich can put on a late push for a Championship play-off place if they can continue to build their run of unbeaten matches.

"We just need to be consistent to win the home games, the home games are really vital," John added.

"On paper, the type of players we have here, we shouldn't lose any games but we need to respect the Championship and take our chances when we get them."
