Begovic has yet to play in a losing side for Ipswich
Ipswich Town's on-loan goalkeeper Asmir Begovic hopes playing senior football boosts his international chances.
The 22-year-old, who is on loan from Portsmouth, is aiming to make his first start for Bosnia-Hercegovina in their World Cup play-off with Portugal.
The former Canada Under-20 man told BBC Suffolk: "The criteria for a lot of national managers is you have to be playing club football and playing well.
"That's what I'm trying to do. It's now up to the manager to pick me."
Begovic, who was born in Bosnia but spent some of his childhood in Canada, recently made his senior international debut for the Balkan country as a substitute against Estonia.
Despite being underdogs he believes his country can cause an upset: "We've had some big results against some other big sides and I think we can go there and get a result.
"People maybe underestimate us a little bit so that will work well for us."
