Success down to trust - Magilton

Jim Magilton
Ipswich have only won twice in the league at Portman Road this season

Ipswich boss Jim Magilton has said his team can climb the Championship table if they learn to trust each other.

A 3-0 victory over Barnsley on Tuesday put them up to 11th in the table, after a stuttering start to the season.

Magilton admitted to "doom and gloom" at the club following the reaction from supporters to Saturday's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.

But he told BBC Radio Suffolk: "We have to trust one another and trust how the manager wants them to go and play."

He added: "When we strung a few passes together we looked a decent side."

Meanwhile the Ipswich boss had praise for defender/midfielder Ivan Campo, who scored his first goal since joining the club in the summer.

"I brought him in because I knew there may be a few jitters and he has great composure," Magilton said.

"He's played in a few derbies in his time, after playing [for Real Madrid] in the Bernabeu I felt he could take anything that might have been thrown at him."

But Magilton would not say whether the 34-year-old would keep his place for Saturday's game at Charlton.

"I think he's going to be fine, I think the more games we can get in to him the better, but we'll obviously assess everybody on Friday."
