Former Inverness Caledonian Thistle chairman Alan Savage has revealed he will pay striker Marius Niculae's salary for another season.
But the club may offload Niculae in the summer if they receive a suitable offer, in order to pursue other transfer targets.
The 26-year-old Romanian, who has scored nine goals this season, joined the SPL club in July 2007.
Doubts arose over Niculae's future when Savage resigned from the club.
Manager Craig Brewster said earlier this week he did not know whether Niculae would still be an Inverness player next season.
"That was very much out of the blue, Alan resigning," said Brewster. "I don't know what will happen.
"But football clubs are strange places. Players go, managers go, chairmen go."
Former Sporting Lisbon and Werder Bremen striker Niculae, who had been playing in Germany with Mainz, was named the Scottish Premier League's player of the month for January.
