Hull City manager Nigel Pearson is expecting winger Cameron Stewart to be out for a considerable period of time following a scan on his injured knee.
Stewart was carried off towards the end of Saturday's 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town.
"It's still pretty badly swollen and it will need another week maybe before we can consider corrective surgery," Pearson told BBC Radio Humberside.
"We'll be governed by the experts as to how long it will be but it's clearly not going to be a short-term one."
The Tigers signed Stewart from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee in January after the 19-year-old impressed in his loan spell at the KC Stadium.
He has made 15 appearances since his initial move to Hull from Old Trafford.
