Hull City boss Nigel Pearson is looking to the loan market to strengthen his side, despite signing five players during the January transfer window.

BBC Radio Humberside understands that City could be looking for a central midfielder or a central defender.

Pearson said: "If the right players are available and we can do it, it makes sense to add one, maybe two.

"They have to be the right players, I'm not going to bring players in for the sake of it."

Hull's January captures included strikers Matty Fryatt and Aaron Mclean, who scored all five goals between them in Saturday's 5-1 thrashing of Humber rivals Scunthorpe United.

Football League and Blue Square Bet Premier clubs can sign players on loan from Tuesday.
