James Harper
Harper scored his first goal for Hull City against Reading

Hull City midfielder James Harper has told BBC Radio Humberside the Tigers can win automatic promotion from the Championship this season.

After being relegated last season, and making a slow start to life in the Championship, City are currently on an eight game unbeaten run.

Harper said; "I'm going for top two - people are saying the play-offs, but you've got to aim for the top two."

"It's a tight league, but it's coming together well for us."

Harper joined Hull during the summer, but broke a bone in his foot in a pre season friendly against North Ferriby United and has only just returned to action. He scored against his former club Reading in Tuesday's 1-1 draw at the KC Stadium.

Harper continued: "The strikers are doing well, we're looking hard to beat - we're doing alright, people are coming back to fitness, new owners have come in, so let's crack on.

"I was out a long time [with injury] but I feel like I've done my pre-season now so I'm just finding my feet. There's more to come from me, another 30-40%, and I'm looking forward to scoring a few more and doing my bit."
