Hull City chairman Adam Pearson claims that avoiding relegation would be worth at least £100m to the cash-strapped Premier League club.

"If you stay up it's the thick wedge of, for two parachute payments and one year in the Prem, £100m," Pearson told a BBC-hosted fans forum.

"People are very canny. They won't invest if there's an element of risk."

Pearson also warns that the club's planned new training ground at Melton would be at risk if the Tigers go down.

"It is definitely on the cards," added Pearson.

"If God forbid, the worse came to the worse and we're not where we are now next season, we'd put it on hold, but we're still moving ahead.

Pearson is also confident that Hull can avoid FA sanctions over transfer deals involving his predecessor Paul Duffen.

"From my discussions with them they are happy with the way the club's handling it," he added. "And they know we're working in the best interests of the game and the club."

Hull currently stand 17th in the Premier League, just a point clear of trouble, having played a game more than the bottom three.
