Boateng leads Hull City into a second season of Premier League football
Hull City's stand-in captain George Boateng says the club will be more mature in their approach to matches in the Premier League this season.
The Tigers narrowly avoided relegation last year after a downturn in form.
Boateng told BBC Look North: "This season you will see a more matured team, not necessarily boring but more professional in our style of approach.
"You're not going to go gung-ho, you have to play with your mind and a certain game plan which we have."
He added: "Last year there were games where, looking back, we should have had a point but because we wanted to win we were sometimes too open. This season I think Hull City will be more matured."
Boateng has taken the captain's arm band as Ian Ashbee battles a career threatening knee injury.
He will line up in a new look midfield which will include recent signings Stephen Hunt and Seyi Olofinjana.
