Taylor left Hull in 2006 and is currently manager of Wycombe
Former Hull boss Peter Taylor has said he is surprised by the Tigers' start in the Premier League this season.
Ex-England Under-21 manager Taylor, who took Hull from League Two to the Championship, told BBC Radio Humberside of his delight.
"Everyone would have said that they'd be one of the favourites to go down.
"It's amazing really and I think Phil's [Brown] has made, what's turned out to be unbelievable signings, and I'm very proud of the situation there," he said.
Never did they dream they'd be in the Premier League

The Tigers went from obscurity to the second tier of English football with back-to-back promotions under Taylor's stewardship and he says their start to the season has been nothing short of fabulous.
He added: "To go and beat Newcastle United away and Arsenal away and Tottenham away I think is amazing. I've been lucky enough to see some Hull City supporters when we've been playing away this season and never did they dream they'd be in the Premier League and for me to be part of getting the club from Division Two [League Two] to the Premier League is just wonderful."
However, he has sounded a word of caution and he says he expects the Tigers to hit tough times in the future. "The one thing that they've got to be ready for is losing six matches on the bounce because that's what the Premier League is capable of doing to you.
"It's fantastic what the chaps are doing at the moment but there's going to come a time when you think. blimey, where's the next goal coming from and when's the next win coming from but to have 14 points at this stage - are they giving themselves a good chance or what?"
I just use my imagination and think what it must be like in the pubs and clubs and on the high street whenever they've won

Taylor left the club after one season in the Championship but he says he takes great pride in seeing players that he brought to the club flourishing with the big boys in football.
"I love seeing Boaz Myhill, Andy Dawson and Ian Ashbee playing because they are the ones that started off playing in Division Two [League Two] and I've no doubt in mind that they've grown in confidence over the promotions they've gained and I'm sure they now think they are good enough to play in the Premiership."
Taylor's record with the club at first Boothferry Park and then at the KC Stadium was the bedrock that the current success has been built upon and he says he knows what it means to the fans to be watching top flight football for the first time.
"The city must be absolutely buzzing," he said, "I just use my imagination and think what it must be like in the pubs and clubs and on the high street whenever they've won and in many ways not believing what they've just done."
