Hull City have confirmed they are chasing a target man to spearhead their forward line in their first season in the Premier League.

Tigers assistant manager Brian Horton has told BBC Radio Humberside they need a "big man" to bolster their attack.

"We know that's a position we need to fill and we've identified a target man and spoken to a club," he said.

"What you'll find though is that 1m is now 3m or 4m but it's something we'll have to live with."

Hull have been linked with a whole host of new players already with only a handful of them being confirmed by the club as potential targets.

I know supporters get frustrated and so do we because you want to make things happen

A bid is on the table for Plymouth winger Peter Halmosi, although the Championship club are holding out for an increased fee.

The Pilgrims are understood to have rejected a cash-plus-player offer involving either John Welsh or Ryan France.

Greek international Stelios Giannakopoulos, ex-French international Bernard Mendy, Bolton's Abdoulaye Meite and Seyi Olofinjana from Wolves have all been linked to Hull but no deals have been struck.

Horton added: "We're making lots of progress but it does take time. I know supporters get frustrated and so do we.

"You want to make things happen but it's an ongoing situation and we're getting closer and closer."
