Tigers star returns to his roots
Dean Windass
Dean Windass has been back on home soil
Hull City striker Dean Windass has returned to the library where he borrowed his first book as a child to sign copies of his autobiography.

It is the latest addition to the Gypsyville library in Hull.

Windass told an audience of around 50 local residents how proud he was to come from the estate.

He said: "I used to live around the corner and I used to smash a ball against the windows and get told off a few times."

Library officials revealed that all of their copies of his book, entitled Deano, were currently out on loan.

Episodes of Windass's time growing up on the Gypsyville estate are chronicled in the book.

He added: "You remember when you were a young kid going to school. I used to go to the ice cream van outside and lo and behold the ice cream van is still there."

Windass spoke for about half an hour before signing autographs for the people who had turned up to hear him speak.
