Huddersfield's Anthony Pilkington in pre-season hope
Pilkington will remain out of action until pre-season.
Huddersfield Town midfielder Anthony Pilkington is aiming to return from injury in time for pre-season training.
The 22-year-old suffered a broken leg and dislocated ankle during the Terriers' 2-1 victory over fellow promotion chasers Rochdale on 8 March.
Pilkington had featured in 31 games for Town this season scoring 14 goals.
"I'm hoping to be starting running in pre-season but you can never look that far - it's always one step at a time," he told BBC Radio Leeds.
"I'm going to keep my head up and look forward to getting back training again. Hopefully the crutches will be out of my life in six weeks."
But the former Stockport playmaker thought his football career was at an end: "At one point I lost all feeling in my foot and I started to worry because if that happens the blood stops circulating and you can lose your foot."
Despite the setback the ex-Republic of Ireland Under-21 international is remaining upbeat: "The ankle is all reset back into place really nice and it is just the fibia that's got a plate and a few screws in it.
"I'm just grateful to be looking to the future and start talking about rehab now."
