Huddersfield Town will become stronger - Lee Clark

Clark's Town finished sixth in league One

Manager Lee Clark insists his Huddersfield Town squad will be stronger next season after their play-off semi-final heartbreak.

Town lost 2-0 at Millwall on Tuesday night to condemn them to another season in League One.

"We will not have a hangover or feel sorry for ourselves. We will dust ourselves down and respond in the right way," Clark told BBC Radio Leeds.

"The players have been superb this season and will learn from this."

Clark had already suffered a play-off defeat during his playing days at Sunderland, when they lost the final to Charlton in 1998.

We can't and won't be disappointed about this season because it's been a great effort and the players have done excellently

"Back then we dusted ourselves down, learnt from the experience and then went on to win the league, smashing all records a long the way, including winning it with a record number of points," explained Clark.

"We can't and won't be disappointed about this season because it's been a great season and the players have done excellently.

"My young players just didn't have enough belief in themselves in this game. But in the long run the experience will serve them well and improve them.

"Over 60 games this season I can be very proud of them. They have worked so hard and come a long way in a short space of time."
