Huddersfield boss Lee Clark wants to bring in three more players and has been given permission by the club's board to go after his targets.
Clark has brought in five players so far this summer and the next addition could arrive before Town's final pre-season test at Wrexham on Saturday.
"Potentially we could have one by the end of the week," Clark said.
"I have been given unbelievable backing by [chairman] Dean Hoyle to get the players I'm after and that's terrific."
Defenders Peter Clarke, and Lee Peltier, midfielder Anthony Kay and strikers Robbie Simpson and Theo Robinson have arrived over the summer, while forward Lee Novak joined his new team-mates for the first time since his winter move from Gateshead.
And Clark is looking to add to those numbers and improve on last years ninth-placed finish.
"Potentially we could have a few more arrivals before the start of the season," he told the club website.

"In an ideal world I want competition in every position, but whether that happens I don't know."
Goals from Anthony Pilkington, Michael Collins and Robbie Simpson helped Town to a 3-0 victory over Macclesfield as they continued their pre-season preparations on Tuesday night.
But Clark has warned his players they are not assured of a place in the starting XI.
"I want a squad where everyone is unsure about their positions. I want everyone to play to their maximum," he said.
"I don't want anyone to take their foot off the gas because they have no threat to their position. If I get the three players in mind I will be happy to close the door and keep the squad together."
