Holdsworth began his career as a trainee at Huddersfield
Huddersfield Town have released five of their eight out-of-contract players, with only versatile defender Andy Holdsworth negotiating a new deal.
Fellow defenders Dominik Werling and Dan Codman, midfielders Jon Worthington and Malvin Kamara and striker Danny Broadbent are all leaving.
Danny Cadamarteri had already rejected a new deal, while club legend Andy Booth is retiring.
Boss Lee Clark told the club website: "I will give them good references."
"All of the lads in the squad have been brilliant since I arrived at the Club but sometimes decisions have to be made in football," he continued.
"It's not the nicest part of the job, but as I have said before, the only constant in football is change and these lads have to go and look for pastures new now.
"They certainly leave with our best wishes and a big thank you for their contribution to the club since we have been here."
