New chief executive Clibbens, left, with chairman-elect Dean Hoyle
Huddersfield Town's incoming chief executive Nigel Clibbens says players will have to leave if boss Lee Clark is to bring in fresh blood.
"We have to have a revolving door [policy]," Clibbens told BBC Radio Leeds. "In terms of new players we have to get some out before new come in.
"We will look at each case, but we have to live with what we can afford.
"We have a very big squad and the board have already invested a large amount of cash in the first half of the season."
But he added that Clark would be given some flexibility in exceptional circumstances.
"If there is a special one-off opportunity where Lee and his team come up with someone who might be out of the ordinary then we'll have to look at that on a special-case basis," he said.
Clibbens officially starts his new role at the West Yorkshire club in January, but was instrumental in the appointment of Clark earlier this month.
