Fallon relishing 'tough start'

Histon

Histon boss Steve Fallon cannot wait to get down to business following the release of the Blue Square Premier fixtures for 2008-2009.

The Stutes host Torquay at the Glass World stadium in their opening match ahead of away trips to relegated Mansfield and York.

"It's always nice to have your first game at home," Fallon told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

"But I've seen the fixtures for August and it's a really tough start."

Alongside Torquay, Mansfield and York, Histon will also meet Burton Albion, Rushden and Diamonds and Forest Green before the end of August.

"If we can get through that with some points then we'll be up and running," Fallon said.

"We finished very well last season, so we'll be starting quietly confident."

The local derbies with Cambridge United will again take place over the Christmas period with the U's travelling to the Glass World on Boxing Day and Histon at the Abbey on New Year's Day.

Last season the spoils were split with each side claiming a 1-0 home win, and Fallon expects this year's ties to be just as closely fought.

"Cambridge United are just starting to recover from their pre-season problems and they're getting themselves a good side together again," he said.
