Hibernian defender Sol Bamba will have talks with the club's officials early next week to establish if he still has a future at Easter Road.
The 25-year-old had been given extended leave because of his inclusion in Ivory Coast's World Cup squad, although he did not play in South Africa.
But he did not return to training this week as expected by Hibs.
The player is still in France but will fly into Edinburgh over the weekend before meeting club officials.
A number of clubs in England and France are keen on signing the player, who is in the final year of his contract with Hibs.
Hibs manager John Hughes earlier this week expressed his disappointment that Bamba had not returned to training.
He said it was frustrating that he would be without one of his most experienced players for the first leg of Hibs' opening Europa League qualifier on 29 July.
That will be played in Slovenia against Maribor, who defeated Hungarians Videoton 3-1 on aggregate following a 2-0 win on Thursday.
Bamba had featured for Ivory Coast throughout the African Cup of Nations earlier this year, but he had been troubled with a knee injury and was an unused substitute by coach Sven-Goran Eriksson at the World Cup.
The former trainee at Paris St Germain moved to Scotland to join Dunfermline in 2006 and made the switch to Easter Road two years later after a proposed transfer to Watford fell through.
