John Hughes insists he wants to keep striker Colin Nish at Hibernian but has warned that others will have to move on for new players to arrive.
Scunthorpe have been linked with Nish, 28, but Hughes is keen to retain the forward and bolster his first team.
"I wouldn't want to be doing any kind of business on guys that are starting in my 11," said the Hibs manager.
"I would like to think I could get another one or two players in before the window closes."
Hughes said that Jonatan Johansson could be one of the players making an exit from Easter Road before the close of the summer transfer window, with the experienced Finnish international forward failing to make an impact since joining Hibs in January.
They're really going to have convince me they're something special to get a game in front of some of the guys that I'm bringing to the club

The manager denied any interest in ex-Aberdeen defender Russell Anderson or former Easter Road midfielder Guillaume Beuzelin but confirmed that player exits would have to happen before any new arrivals.
"There would have to be three or four leaving the club," said Hughes.
"While the window's still open, maybe they might be better finding themselves another club.
"They're really going to have convince me they're something special to get a game in front of some of the guys that I'm bringing to the club."
"Jonatan is one of them, I have to say, who would possibly come into that category."
Former Chelsea defender Joe Keenan is another player who has been told by Hughes that he would be better served searching for a fresh start.
Anthony Stokes was signed by Hughes on Friday, adding competition for places up front but Nish led the line during Saturday's 3-1 win at Falkirk.
Stokes and Derek Riordan provided support for the big target man, while Abdessallam Benjelloun, Danny Galbraith and Kurtis Byrne offered further attacking options from the bench.
