Hibernian striker Colin Nish has rejected a move to Chinese club Chengdu Blades, BBC Scotland has learned.
The 27-year-old would have earned about 280,000 during an eight-month loan spell with a view to a permanent move.
The Edinburgh club were in line to receive a fee in the region of 70,000 as part of the deal.
Hibs manager Mixu Paatelainen told BBC Scotland on Friday: "He stays with us. He's in our plans and is doing a good job for us."
Nish has notched 10 goals since arriving at Easter Road from Kilmarnock in January 2008.
The forward would have been allowed to move to Asia immediately as the Chinese transfer window is still open.
Paatelainen said that Nish was not going to be leaving the club, but added the player would be capable of making the move abroad.
"Such speculation doesn't surprise me when players are playing well," said the Hibs boss.
"If Colin can play here, he can play abroad as well. The Scottish Premier League is not a poor league at all."
Nish, who also played for Dunfermline and Alloa, has scored six goals for Hibs this season.
