Hereford United officials have denied a deal has been done over the managerial vacancy at the League Two club.
The former Darlington manager Simon Davey has been closely linked with a move to Edgar Street.
But BBC Hereford and Worcester understands the club will continue to take applications until after the weekend before making a decision.
United's directors admit they have been 'surprised and flattered' by the quality of applications for the post.
