Clint Easton has played over 50 games for the Bulls
Hereford United player Ben Smith has hit out at the Bulls fans who booed Clint Easton when he came on in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Hartlepool.
Smith says that the fans were responding to reports of a city centre incident involving five Hereford players two weeks ago.
"There was an incident, but there's a lot of gossip and hearsay," said Smith.
"It's time some of the club's supporters got behind the player," he told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"I'd like to know how many people know what they are booing for."
Police were called to the incident in a Hereford pub. But Smith says it has all been dealt with - and that they now need to get on with the relegation fight.
"We've been told what happened," said Smith. "The gaffer is not happy.

"Maybe it was poor judgment by the lads, but nothing that deserved that sort of reception.
"If anything, this has pushed us closer together, as we are a team not a group of individuals.
"The majority of the time the fans are brilliant but we need that at home games, and make it intimidating for our opponents, not for our own players."
Smith added that the small minority who booed Easton following his arrival for the last 10 minutes of the 1-1 draw with Hartlepool have short memories.
"Clint's made a real big impact at this club since he's been here," said Smith. "He was an integral part of the team that got promoted, and he deserves better than that."
