Hearts have asked the Scottish Football Association for an explanation of the performance of referee David Somers and his assistants in the loss to Hamilton.
The Tynecastle side had four players red carded during and after Sunday's match, which ended in chaotic scenes inside the New Douglas Park tunnel.
And manager Csaba Laszlo has asked for a written explanation from the SFA.
Suso Santana, Ian Black and Eggert Jonsson have all been fined by Hearts for their part in the disturbance.
"Clearly, I try as much as possible to be fair with my comments regarding referees and if you look back at my time since becoming Hearts manager you will see I am actually very positive in my comments where I can be," said Laszlo.
"However, it's clear to me that I share the views of a number of other managers who genuinely believe that the standard of officiating is one of the biggest challenges the game in Scotland faces."
Santana, Black and Jonsson were reported by referee Somers in the aftermath of Hearts' 2-1 loss and were penalised by the club following an internal review.
Winger Santana was dismissed for violent conduct after an apparent clash with Hamilton's Leon Knight.
Black received the equivalent of a red card for abusive behaviour and Jonsson was cautioned for dissent, while a member of the Tynecastle club's backroom staff was reported for the equivalent of a dismissal.
Hearts will not appeal against Santana's post-match red card and the Spaniard will be suspended for Saturday's visit of Dundee United.
He will be missing along with Black and Ismael Bouzid, who was sent off during the game along with Michael Stewart, the Hearts captain being hopeful of winning an appeal against his dismissal.
We do have Mark Ridgers, and he is a very good young goalkeeper, so we have no problems in involving him

Somers has conceded that he made a mistake in Stewart's case and an SFA panel will review the incident.
On the decision to punish the trio, manager Csaba Lazlo told the club website: "While there were clearly a series of circumstances that led to events at the end of the game, it is important that players retain their discipline at all times.
"The players concerned have been disciplined now and we will now concentrate on this weekend's game against Dundee United at Tynecastle."
Hearts are missing Andrew Driver and Marius Zaliukas through injury and their selection problems for the weekend have been exacerbated by doubts over all three first-team goalkeepers.
Janos Balogh is battling to overcome the hamstring injury that forced him off at New Douglas Park and his replacement, Jamie MacDonald, has been ruled out with suspected ligament damage after twisting his ankle in training.
Marian Kello may come back after missing the Hamilton game through illness.
"We will see how Janos is, I hope he will be fit," Laszlo said. "Jamie cannot play and we must hope Marian is fit after he was ill at the weekend.
"We do have Mark Ridgers, and he is a very good young goalkeeper, so we have no problems in involving him."
Ridgers, 19, has spent the last month on loan at Second Division East Fife.
