Laszlo cools Driver Scotland talk

Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo
Laszlo believes Driver has the potential to be an international player

Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo has described as "fiction" the notion of his English-born, Scots-schooled winger Andy Driver playing for Scotland.

A rule change ratified by Fifa means Driver, 21, could now be picked by national team manager George Burley.

"At the moment everything is just a big question," said the Tynecastle boss.

"Andrew Driver has the potential to be an international player if he has an invitation from Scotland. But this is all just fiction."

Laszlo, with experience of national team management in Hungary and Uganda, scoffed at the apparent stand-off between Burley and his talented winger.

For the Hearts boss, the player must do his talking on the park.

"I think if you don't invite somebody, you cannot wait for somebody to tell you 'I am here'.

"The player can tell the national coach to look at him with good performances."

And on this issue, Laszlo said he was disappointed that the Ghana manager had shown no interest in the current performances of Hearts midfielder Laryea Kingston.

"The national coach didn't ever ask me, 'What's with Laryea Kingston? He is injured, he is not injured', only to take him for the national team without any dialogue with the club.

"This is not OK. He (the Ghana coach) was never here to watch his performance. The performance must decide your future."
