Laszlo has been offered a new contract by Hearts

Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo may not take up the offer a new contract at Tynecastle unless the Edinburgh club can match his ambition.

Laszlo, who has two years of his current deal to run, revealed that club owner Vladimir Romanov has already proposed extending his stay.

"At the moment, I don't sign," said the Hungarian coach. "We have discussed it.

"Hearts is a great club and if I get the help to go and realise my vision then yes."

Laszlo is embarking on his second season in charge at Tynecastle, having steered the club to a third-place finish in the Scottish Premier League last term.

However, Hearts sold Christophe Berra in January, while Robbie Neilson, Bruno Aguiar and Christos Karapidis moved on under freedom of contract over the summer.

New recruits have been found, but Laszlo has been frustrated by the lack of funds made available by Romanov to strengthen the team.

And he indicated that it was a lack of quality that led to Thursday's 4-0 defeat by Dinamo Zagreb in their Europa League qualifier first leg.

"I got a chance from Mr Romanov to come here and I think it was a big chance to come to Scottish football," added the Hearts boss.

"I know also that I used that chance. I know also that if one time is the time to go, I can go with my reputation in Scottish football and I hope I can get another job here.

"The people know me, but the chance I got was from Mr Romanov and this club.

"You must have respect for the people. This is the point for me, to be respectful. It is indifferent which name or position but never to forget if someone helped me."
