Webster missed the league run in and Scottish Cup final |
Hearts and Scotland defender Andy Webster has handed in his notice to the Tynecastle club as he uses new Fifa regulations to force a 1 July release. He was dropped from the first team after rejecting a contract extension.
Now Monaco, PSV Eindhoven, Rennes, Everton, Fulham and Sheffield United are believed to be interested, with compensation set to be about 200,000.
Fifa Article 17 allows players under 28 who have served three years of a four-year deal to hand in their notice.
That must be done 15 days before the end of the current season and Webster's camp are claiming that he is the first footballer to invoke the new clause brought in last July.
Rangers have previously been linked with the 24-year-old.
But the regulations do not permit Webster to move to another club within Scotland.
And Webster could challenge that ruling should new Rangers manager Paul Le Guen make an approach.
Compensation will be decided by the Disputes Resolution Chamber in Switzerland.
And BBC Sport understands that the club are unlikely to recieve more than 200,000, roughly a years salary, for losing a player they value at more than 1m.
Webster refused to extend his contract, which is due to expire next summer, in February.
He was dropped from the first-team and he and his agent attracted criticism from Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov.
