Campbell Ogilvie will begin his work on 5 December |
Former Rangers general secretary and director Campbell Ogilvie has been appointed to a similar role with Scottish Premier League rivals Hearts. Ogilvie relinquished executive duties following a boardroom reshuffle at Ibrox in September.
He said: "It was clear to me that Hearts is a club in the ascendancy and I will endeavour to build on the progress that has been made."
Hearts are still seeking a new chief executive and director of football.
The Edinburgh club say that the new position is designed to "further reinforce Hearts' off-field development".
Ogilvie, who spent 27 years at Rangers and is currently a second vice-president of the Scottish FA, will report directly to Roman Romanov, Hearts' chairman and acting chief executive.
"Naturally, I am delighted at my appointment," said Ogilvie.
"Hearts is a great club with a very proud tradition.
"I am relishing this new challenge and look forward to continuing my good relationship with Rangers and all the other SPL clubs through my new role."
Hearts said that the new position of general secretary and operations director was "another significant step in the rebuilding process taking place".
They were particularly pleased to hire someone so widely respected both domestically and across European football.
Romanov aded: "I am very happy that Campbell has agreed to join us as it is clear he shares our ambition and belief.
"We can learn much from his professional experience both domestically and in Europe.
"He is a worthy addition to the club and we know he will contribute significantly to making Hearts a truly great club."
