Former Scotland manager Craig Brown is refusing to rule himself out of the running for the vacant director of football role at Hearts. Responding to rumours around Edinburgh that he would be interested, Brown told BBC Sport: "I've not said anything to anyone about this.
"And I'd rather not get involved in saying yes or no."
Brown was at Somerset Park to watch Ayr United defeat Raith Rovers in Division Two on Tuesday evening.
The former Clyde and Preston North End manager has been scouting for Fulham after joining the English Premiership outfit during the summer as their international representative.
Hearts appointed Graham Rix as head coach this month saying that they hoped to add a director of football to their staff within two weeks.
But majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov has been silent since, with speculation linking the Edinburgh club with the likes of former England bosses Sir Bobby Robson, Terry Venables and Kevin Keegan so far coming to nothing.
There have even been suggestions that Rix could remain in sole charge until the end of the season.
Romanov had initially appointed Rix saying that the former Portsmouth and Oxford United manager would only be responsible for team selection and training.
A director of football would supervise player signings.
George Burley last month left the club as manager, despite taking them to the top of the Scottish Premier League, complaining of interference by Romanov in team affairs.
