Hamilton Accies boss Reid hails team after Celtic draw

Hamilton manager Billy Reid
Reid predicts selection headaches for Saturday's trip to play Rangers

Hamilton Accies boss Billy Reid heaped praise on his players after their battling 1-1 draw with Celtic.

"I can't ask any more of my players. It's the first SPL point we've got from the Old Firm," Reid told BBC Scotland.

"To a man they're on their knees in the dressing room and have given everything for this club.

"This kind of result has been a long time coming. We got a wee rub of the green that we haven't had in recent weeks and we'll take our point."

Simon Mensing had given Accies the lead with a header on 28 minutes in the bottom versus top match at New Douglas Park.

And when Celtic's James Forrest was sent off just after half-time it looked like it could be a memorable night for Hamilton.

But, Accies subsequently had both Jim McAlister and Mensing red carded, the latter giving away a penalty as well, which Anthony Stokes scored to draw the game in added time.

"The sending off is a big thing for us. Jim McAlister's been as bit rash, whether it should've been a red card or not I don't know," said Reid.

"I didn't think Celtic created too much the first half, but from then on they pummelled us."

Accies next game is a trip to Ibrox to face Rangers, and Reid says he may give youth a chance to impress - although he admits it will be more through necessity than design.

"We've got massive problems for Saturday," said Reid.

"We've got two players sent off and one or two walking wounded who I don't know if they'll make it.

"But a trip to Ibrox is maybe a good one to serve a suspension for.

"It means I can then bring in a couple of young players to give them some experience.

"I watched Rangers against Kilmarnock and I thought they were sensational, so it'll be a baptism of fire for them."
