Full-back Trent McClenahan has left Hamilton Academical after failing to agree a new contract.
Accies manager Billy Reid told the club's website: "We offered a contract to Trent and he hadn't accepted it so we felt that it was time to move on.
"Trent had done really well for me over the last two seasons but we couldn't give him any longer
"And with Jack Ross available - and other SPL clubs interested in him - we had to act quickly."
Reid can use Ross and fellow new arrival Andy Graham in the right-back berth where McClenahan was most often deployed.
Australian McClenahan, who has previously had spells at West Ham, MK Dons and Hereford, made over 50 appearances for the Scottish Premier League side.
Former Celtic midfielder Nicky Riley, who joined Accies on a short-term deal in February, has also been released.
But Darren Young and Eddie Malone are training with Reid's squad after both departed Dundee.
James McArthur has been the subject of speculation linking him with a move to Wigan, whilst Leeds, West Bromwich Albion and Rangers have also been credited with an interest in the midfielder.
"People say I'm looking for a midfielder but James is still training with us as normal and I don't quite know what is going to happen with that at this stage," added Reid.
"I know exactly what I need and there are two or three things I'm working on at the moment."
