Hamilton's James Gibson undergoes second knee operation

Gibson had a recurrence of a cruciate ligament injury suffered last August

Hamilton defender James Gibson has undergone a second operation on a cruciate ligament injury.

The 21-year-old, who was injured in pre-season training last year, returned to the Accies squad following surgery but the injury recurred in April.

"James has been very unfortunate but the second injury was just one of those things," sports therapist Avril Downs told the Accies website.

"It's now back to hard work and rehab for him."

Gibson, who had become a regular starter for Hamilton at the end of the 2008/09 Scottish Premier League season, failed to make an appearance during the last campaign after suffering his injury while training.

"He had been doing tremendously in his rehab and work rate," said Downs.

"I saw him again on Friday and he has had the clips from his wound now removed."
