Veteran Hamilton Accies defender Chris Swailes has shelved plans to emigrate as he wants a crack at the Scottish Premier League.
The 37-year-old, formerly of Ipswich Town and Rotherham, had planned to retire and take up a coaching job in Gran Canaria.
But he has signed a new one-year contract after Accies won promotion.
Manager Billy Reid told his club website: "Chris has done tremendously for us over the past 18 months."
Swailes, who was also on the books of Peterborough, Boston, Birmingham, Gainsborough, Doncaster and Bury, joined Accies in March 2007 after leaving Oldham Athletic and has made 32 appearances.
The Englishman had planned to take his family to the Canary Islands to take up a job at the Las Palmas training academy with former Accies and Raith Rovers player Paquito.
"He has put his plans to uproot his family to Spain on hold," said Reid. "It's a big gain for Accies.
"He has played in the Premiership down south and will clearly give us top-flight experience for next season.
"He has never let us down and is a big part of our squad."
