Winters believes Billy Reid will be turning heads at bigger clubs |
Hamilton striker David Winters fears manager Billy Reid could be coveted by bigger clubs if he guides Accies to a win over Dundee United on Wednesday. First Division leaders Accies visit Tannadice for the quarter final of the CIS Cup, having knocked Kilmarnock out 2-0 in the last round.
"I would be surprised if he walked away from the club, but it's his managerial career," said Winters.
"The boys here could not hold him back if something better came along."
Yet the former Dundee United and Ross County player believes Reid is enjoying trying to developing Accies into a force again.
"I think he has built something here and wants to take it to the next level. He is the type of manager who is full of enthusiasm," he said.
"He has given the youngsters here a chance, he spots talent and he manages to get the best out of people."
"When I first came here, I wasn't that confident and probably not as fit as I could have been. He's managed to get the best out of me and a whole load of other players."
The Lanarkshire club currently have a six-point advantage over Dundee in the league after beating Morton 1-0 at the weekend.
