Akpa Akpro had trials with Colchester and MK Dons before joining Town

Grimsby Town striker Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro is considering a new improved contract after impressing in his first six months at the club.

The 24-year-old Frenchman signed an 18-month contract with the Mariners in December after a successful trial.

The former Toulouse man scored three in 20 games for Mike Newell's side.

Newell told the club website: "I think there's a lot more to come from him and I think he will get better and better playing alongside Barry [Conlon]."
