Proudlock has the chance to kick start his career at Blundell Park
Grimsby boss Mike Newell has backed striker Adam Proudlock to prove himself at the club.
The 27-year-old, on loan from Darlington, scored the winner against Shrewsbury on Saturday to record their first home league win of the season.
"He shows at times that he's got quality that's above this division," Newell told BBC Radio Humberside.
"The longer he goes, the better he'll get and the more goals he'll get because he hasn't been playing games."
Proudlock found himself frozen out of the first-team picture at Darlington after failing to score in eight starts since his move from Stockport County during the summer.
The former Wolves striker signed a two-month loan deal with the Mariners in early November.
